Gen Z is Building a 2030s Renaissance (and you might miss it)

This video showed up on my youtube feed a few days ago – I guess it says something about me as a person. I’ve found myself thinking about the message a lot since. There is definitely part of it that fall into the now working youtube formula “talking about today’s world + putting it in context of an old stream of thought or notion that people heard about but don’t know much about” = makes people feel like they are getting educated about stoicism or renesance while watching something about themselves usually telling them that they are better than they think. I recognize that this newly starting youtuber is using this formula to get noticed.

However, I must admit that the thought of Gen Z being a generation being different – and perhaps in some ways - healthier than those before us – resonates with me. I understand why we can be seen as phone addicted, uneducated, non-willing to work hard over sensitive snowflakes who hate cars and humor. Nevertheless, we are also the first generation at least in a few decades that doesn’t buy the idea of more stuff = better life, doesn’t blindly follow authorities, pays attention to communications in relationships and is, at least in some ways, more exception of differences between people. Of course someone will say that thats the privileged, woke, western bubble I am surrounded by - and thats a whole other problem that I will probably write something about at some point. However, what if we buy into this idea? What if we take things like value politics and impact business seriously for the first time since the industrial revolution, teach our kids to be tolerant and take care of our elders? You can see that this is a very unrefined thought and you will probably hear me provoke people around me with it untill I get some answers.
